Town & Country Estate Project

When the lot next door to the Trout Family came on the market, they saw an opportunity to build a home they love in the Town and Country neighborhood they loved. The family had outgrown the formal and ornate style it was built in, they saw an opportunity to build a custom home the felt fresh, up-to-date and would provide more entertainment and gathering space for this close-knit family of six.

This home, completed in 2021 by Hibbs Homes and designed by architect Jim Bujelski, was recognized as the Custom Home of the Year by the St Louis Home Builder Association.

TOWN AND COUNTRY, MO

8,000 SQUARE FEET

6 BEDROOMS

7 BATHROOMS

PREP KITCHEN, JAPANESE SOAKING TUB, WINE & MUSIC ROOM

From the outside in, this home is full of inspired design moments that balance the traditional and modern to make it as inviting as it is beautiful. This Georgian-inspired home is a great example of how transitional design can fuse the best of both worlds to create a personalized look that can play cozy or formal, depending on the mood.

When it comes to curb appeal, they have it in spades from the moment the front elevation greets you with an understated formality. The exterior is a combination of Antique White brick and architectural cast stone that makes this home stand out. The cast stone frames the portico, window headers and sills, and extends along the front railing system. A louvered copper dormer and custom-designed copper finials accentuate the peeks of the home's soaring roof lines, adding heritage and grace.

Inside, there are plenty of unique charming nooks to unwind in with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, such as the music and wine room located at the front of the home. Connecting these quiet sports are large gathering spaces designed to open up movement and space when entertaining or the family gathers.

The spacious family room with soaring coffered ceilings is anchored by a cast stone fireplace that calls back the exterior accents. Two lighted artwork niches flank the fireplace are painted in the eye catching Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black, which is also used for interior doors and the ceiling in the music room. This rich, deep color is balanced with Gossamer Veil as the primary shade on the remaining interior walls and White Dove on the ceilings and trim, both also from Sherwin Williams.

The family room opens onto a large four-seasons room via a wall of 9-foot multi-slide doors that connect the indoor and outdoor living spaces seamlessly. The vaulted ceiling warms up the glass lined room with rough-hewn and aged wooden planks and beams. A pass-through window is perched atop a small bar-style seating area that can be easily served from the counter and bar on the inside.

The home's bright, modern kitchen is completed with white peripheral cabinetry and a large, darker island that offers plenty of seating. TheĀ  features a secondary prep kitchen round out the main floor.

Downstairs is a central recreation area with a live edge bar that opens to a second outdoor living space through a full-view garage door. The lower-level deck overlooks the stone-enclosed pool, complete with a fire feature.

With inspired design details such as a metal-finish Japanese soaking tub, custom doors with metal and wood finishes throughout, and a book-matched decorative tile inlay that greets you in the foyer, this stately family home is the blueprint for what custom building truly means.
