Marcella Mountain Legacy Project

Set within the private mountain community of Marcella in Deer Valley, this is conceived as a warm, contemporary retreat shaped by its dramatic alpine setting and meant to leave a legacy. The three-level home follows the natural slope of the site, creating a seamless flow between the expansive living spaces, terraces, and the windows are a work of art in themselves framing the surrounding landscape.

The exterior materials draw from the surrounding environment with cut limestone, natural wood siding, hemlock soffits and patio ceilings, all topped by a dark metal roofing, and coordinated window frames. The highlight of the design is several expanses of glass creating a bridge between the interiors and the outdoors.

Inside, the aesthetic is refined yet inviting. Medium-stained white oak flooring, oak doors and jambs, hemlock ceilings that compliment the soffits, pale walls, and steel or pewter accents abound. The result is a distinctly mountain modern home that is substantial without feeling heavy, and polished without sacrificing comfort.

The main level is organized around an open great room, kitchen, and dining area designed for gathering and that directly connect to outdoor living areas. The kitchen pairs light rift-cut oak cabinetry with a concrete-look hood and gray-toned quartzite countertops and backsplash. A generous island anchors the room, while a pantry, nearby bar, and breakfast nook flank the space.

The entry of the home is as an experience of its own, featuring a stone wall, integrated art niche, and recessed display conceived for a custom textile artwork. Coat and bench niches provide storage.

The main floor also includes the primary suite, additional bedroom accommodations, laundry and mudroom functions, and are positioned to balance privacy with easy access to gathering spaces. Upstairs, additional guest suites, bunkrooms, a playroom, and another laundry area provide a flexible retreat for family and friends.

Entertainment and wellness spaces characterize the home's lower level. A family room, game room, media room, ski room, sauna, and covered patios will play host to relaxed evenings and active mountain days.
