History

Heber City started as a quaint dairy farming community and has grown to become a destination for visitors from around the world who want to enjoy the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains. During the 2002 Winter Olympics, Heber City hosted cross country skiing and biathlon events held at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center and remains a destination for athletes of all skill levels.

Visit The Homestead Resort - Built in 1886 around a crater and natural spring, The Homestead Resort is on the National Register of Historic Places. The resort is well known because the natural spring boasts 90-degree water, allowing guests access to warm water scuba diving year-round. The Homestead Crater's warm water snorkeling and scuba diving make it a four-season destination. Summer activities in and around the resort include horseback riding, bicycle and hiking trails, golf, swimming, tennis, Friday night campfires, and more. Wasatch Mountain & Lake Golf Course - Consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the world, the Mountain Course is one of Michael Jordan’s favorite golf courses - he even bought a house in nearby Park City for easy access. Located inside Wasatch State Park, the greens have a more natural feel because the courses are not colocated with a subdivision or housing.

Soldier Hollow Nordic Center - Located in Wasatch State Park, Soldier Hollow was the venue for cross country skiing and biathlon competitions during the 2002 Winter Olympics and is home to the U.S. Cross Country Skiing Championships. Offering world-class cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, Soldier Hollow is a destination for competitive and recreational winter sports.
