About Kirkwood, MO
Kirkwood is a St. Louis County suburb. Founded in 1853, the city was named after James P. Kirkwood, the builder of the Pacific Railroad through that town. At the center of town is an active railroad and train depot, harkening back to the city's roots.
Kirkwood was the first planned suburb located west of the Mississippi River. The community design from its early days has made it one of the most attractive cities in the St. Louis area.
